Sovereign Concrete Products, trading as Ballarat Concrete Products Pty. Ltd., is a leading supplier of quality precast structural concrete products for the civil and road construction industries. With a rich history dating back to the early 1980s, the company has been a significant contributor to numerous major projects in central Victoria, Australia. The company operates two manufacturing plants, a culvert plant in Avoca and a larger structural concrete plant and head office in Ballarat, employing up to 50 people at any given time. Our team comprises a core workforce skilled in formwork carpentry, steel fabrication, and concrete finishing. The management maintains a strong engineering focus, allowing us to tackle unusual and low volume projects that many others avoid.

Production Capabilities

Our production capabilities are reliant on a combination of our in-house resources, those of our suppliers, and the services available for utilization. At Sovereign Concrete Products, we take pride in our state-of-the-art facilities and equipment designed to deliver top-notch products and services to our clients.

*Production Areas and Cranage*

Our Ballarat site spans an area of approximately 33,000m2, with 5400 m2 undercover, housing office space and two major production areas. Each production area is equipped with overhead bridge cranes, enabling continuous production in all weather conditions. The two covered production areas include:

• Ring Road: Two bays covering 1850 m2, serviced by a 6.5-tonne and a 30-tonne bridge crane
• Trewin Street: A single bay of 3200 m2, serviced by a 10-tonne, 20-tonne, and 50-tonne overhead crane

Our adjoining yards are serviced by an all-terrain mobile crane, with larger mobile cranes available from local suppliers as needed.

*Steam Curing*

All undercover production areas are equipped with a computer-controlled steam curing system. A modern and energy-efficient steam generator supplies low-pressure piped steam to all production areas. Electronic controllers measure curing temperature, and steam is regulated to maintain temperatures within strict specifications. A separate computer system records temperature vs. time, enabling daily turnaround of moulds and eliminating the need for secondary curing.

*A Flexible Workforce*

Sovereign Concrete Products maintains a permanent shop floor workforce of around 40 people, complemented by locally sourced casual workers as required. This flexible workforce enables us to accommodate fluctuations in project demands and deliver superior results for our clients.

Our product range is diverse, catering to various needs within the civil construction industry. Our offerings include:

• Structural precast bridge parapets, safety barriers, sound walls, and abutments for freeways and bridges
• J-J Hooks temporary safety barriers for roadwork site protection, manufactured under licence to Easi-Set Industries, Midland, Virginia, USA
• Safety barriers for the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix
• Precast culverts for stormwater drainage, stock crossings, and pedestrian underpasses, ranging in size from 300 x 150 to 4500 x 3000
• Precast pits of any size, shape, or type, with customized features and block-outs

Our customer base includes construction companies of all sizes, local governments, water authorities, and government road authorities.
