Our History
The Otter Fencing name has been built on a great tradition of vision, hard work, and true entrepreneurial spirit. Our story began in the early 1950's when John Otter - Jack as he was known - was employed as a Fencing sub-contractor on Housing Commission estates in Melbourne and Regional Victoria. Jack dreamt of expanding and developing his own manufacturing business, supplying fencing materials and gates to the broader industry. In 1959, Jack formally incorporated Otter Fencing, and soon after, he purchased his first chain-link fabric machine to manufacture rolls of chain-link fabric along with various other fabrication equipment to create a fully equipped workshop.
