Business Details
We established OConnor and Houle in 1996 as a design-focused architecture, interiors, and landscape practice based in Melbourne. Our principals, Annick Houle and Stephen OConnor, bring over 55 years of combined experience, having worked on institutional, commercial, and residential projects across Melbourne, Sydney, London, and New York. We lead each project personally, supported by a team of talented architects and designers to ensure professionalism and precision from concept to completion. Our work is celebrated for its ability to distil complex historical, social, and environmental layers into simple, joyful, and sustainable designs. We meticulously unfold each design direction to guide every aspect, from the initial client brief to the finest construction detail. Our projects span houses, gardens, museums, wineries, education facilities, and commercial buildings, consistently earning awards and recognition in major architectural publications.
We believe powerful architecture can define identities, brand organisations, or transform a house into a special home. Our spaces are crafted to engage the senses, promote wellbeing, and foster a sense of belonging. We tailor every environment to reflect the uniqueness of its context and the individuality of our clients. Our commitment to collaborative craftsmanship and sensory refinement ensures each project resonates with elegance, timelessness, and purpose. We take pride in our ability to navigate diverse cultural and environmental challenges while maintaining a clear, client-centred vision.
